General
- The Tolkien Meta-FAQ by Steuard Jensen is a unified index to several major lists of Frequently Asked Questions about J.R.R. Tolkien and his "subcreated" world of Middle-earth.
- Tolkie Online
Images
- Eldar.org contains downloadable images by artists such as Ted Nasmith, John Howe and Alan Lee.
- Ted Nasmith now has an official web site.
Fonts
Languages
- Ardalambion contains a wealth of information about Tolkien's invented languages, together with links to other language-related sites and a downloadable course in the Elvish language Quenya! Remember though that many of Tolkien's writings on his languages have not been published, so you can't expect to become as fluent in Quenya as you could, say, in Klingon!
Applications
- TengScribe is a useful program for transcribing into Tengwar script. The "mapping" of the fonts to the keyboard does not match the actual letters on the keys. For example, if you type a "t" you don't get the tengwar or runic symbol for that sound - you get the symbol for "m" (Tengwar) or "kh" (Runes).
