The Fantasy Genre
Firstly - What is Genre?
Genre is the word we use to describe the different kinds of literature. For example there are 4 main kinds of literature; Poetry, Prose, Drama and Non- Fiction. Within these groups there are further genres.
Fantasy is a particular genre or type of writing as it has its own particular set of characteristics. Let's think about 2 films in the fantasy genre: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and The Lord of the Rings. What features do they have in common?
